3D Printing Magic: Custom Noctua Cooler for NVIDIA RTX 4090

A Reddit user has managed to create a custom three-fan Noctua cooler for the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, which greatly improves its cooling capabilities. This innovation, which was shared on the Small Form Factor PC subreddit, includes a 3D printed casing and Noctua NF-A9 fans.

The casing was produced by the user “zaME19”, and it’s compatible with the Inno3D GeForce RTX 4090’s non-reference PCB. It allows for the attachment of three 92mm fans which work at a top speed of 2000 RPM, offering an airflow of 78.9 m3/h and maintaining a low noise output of 22.8 dBA, due to their SS02 bearing mechanism and anti-vibration pads.

The custom cooling system, which can be customized in design, connects to the GPU’s heatsink with a single 4-pin connector. The user noticed a decrease of 8°C in temperature compared to the original design from Inno3D, along with quieter functioning. This modification is becoming increasingly popular, with users choosing Noctua fans for custom GPU cooling solutions, mirrored in products from ASUS and SYCOM.

The success of this custom cooler demonstrates the potential of tailored cooling solutions in enhancing GPU performance, and also highlights the role of 3D printing in enabling such modifications. The realm of GPU cooling may see increased customization, leveraging 3D printing technology for tailored designs that enhance both performance and visual appeal.
