UltiMaker’s relaunch of MakerBot as a 3D printing brand with a focus on education takes place inside.


TCT’s Junior Editorial Content Producer Oli Johnson recently had the chance to catch up with Andrea Zermeno, Education Marketing Manager at MakerBot, to discuss the relaunch of the brand. In May 2022, Ultimaker and MakerBot announced their merger, and since then, UltiMaker has been making waves in the 3D printing world. They have released several machines under the new name, including the MakerBot SKETCH Large, UltiMaker S7, and Method XL 3D printer.

At the RAPID + TCT 2023 event, TCT got a sneak preview of the Method XL, and that’s where UltiMaker announced that they would be rebranding all of their hardware and software products. The first phase of this rebrand was announced in October 2023, with MakerBot being relaunched as an education-focused 3D printing brand. According to UltiMaker, MakerBot is now the only education-focused 3D printing brand in the world.

As part of the rebrand, MakerBot has expanded its MakerBot Certification, offering 3D printing training and curriculum development programs in multiple languages, including French, Spanish, German, and British English.
